Emotion recognition in Intellectual Disability – Urgently seeking middle aged (women 44-58 yrs and men 39-55 yrs) comparison group without Intellectual Disability
Massey University Doctoral Research Study
People with intellectual disability often experience impairments in social and vocational adjustment. It remains unclear whether reading facial emotions is a main contributor to the social difficulties experienced by this group. The purpose of this study is to trial a computer based test designed to measure the emotion recognition abilities of people with an intellectual disability. We hope that this research will help clarify to the link between emotion recognition and social skills, and in time help coordinate better care and social learning opportunities for individuals with an intellectual disability.
We are seeking men (39-55) and women (44-58 yrs) for a comparison group. Participants must not have intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder. Unfortunately due to this being student research this is an unpaid study. A $10 voucher (Warehouse or MTA) will be offered as a token of our appreciation. The experiment will be completed in one session that takes about two hours. Sessions will take place at the Massey University School of Psychology in Albany Village (URL detailing our location is provided below). Alternative arrangements may be made in special circumstances.
We look forward to hearing from you!
